Do not use gcfscape and skip that step as noted in the video. You can instead use your normal zps game directories and add the files necessary.
Just incase you get lost:
1) Install the two crosshair files to this directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\teamworkwinning917\zombie panic! source\zps\materials\VGUI\images\hud
2) Start new game.
The two crosshair files (as shown in video you only edit the .vtf file with the paint.net addon).
Hmm perhaps someone else can provide their feedback when they try theirs, does your zps show as "In-game" or "In-mod?"
From what I know the zps game you download from steam would normally not include the vgui/images/hud (for me its vgui/images/hud and I believe this is default for zps for the new update) file in one's directory, unless he makes his zps into a customizable mod through GCFscape or (havent tried this) but perhaps non-steam zps version (seen people with those).
I rechecked my folders, and my "steamusername"/zombie panic! source/zps/materials does not have the VGUI file.
Either way, if one does not have the VGUI file in their directory, then they usually have to make it into a customizable mod. That was the issue with many of my friends, and flippy told me of the conversion trick. (5:03 on video for the folders that jay and I are talking about if you are interested in trying without the conversion.)
If someone is willing to, they can try just adding the directory files and adding the crosshair to where it should be into their normal zps game directories. I tried this and it did not work. Flippy tried it and it worked for him only BEFORE the update.
Anyways good to know, glad tutorial is helping people out there, i love the custom crosshair.

IMO this tutorial is wayy to long. You dont need to convert your zps to use custom x-hairs. The link I included before (not sure where my post went) had it all setup so all you needed to do was download the batch of custom x-hairs (included like 20 customs already) then move the 2 files into your normal zps folder.. zombiepanicsource/zps/materials/GVUI/Hud/Image.. No need to mod it!! that was with the old version of zps
its not dated. It is working just fine for me. The update changed my x-hair and I used the same steps and it worked like a charm. Just remember to delete files in the ur hud/images folder first or you will have no xhair
Also for those of you who are interested in mapping for zps, using paint.net to create vtf files is great since it is simply adding an extension to one of my free paint programs.
You can find many crosshairs by googling "crosshairs vtf" if you do not feel like making one.
Oh ya cushy that brought back my memory on that. I actually got this info from one of the zps devs. If there is not VGUI/hud/image folder.. all you have to do is just make one with that same name. The game will run first off the folders you create.. if none exist then the GFC will take over.. So just make the files i mentioned then you add the custom xhairs, and make sure only those 2 or 1 files are in there.
Also this info was before this recent update. I'm guessing if it didn't work for you, you may of not made the file names exact or the way to do it may of changed. It used to be you only needed to mod your ZPS was if you were trying to add your own mp3 sound tracks into the game or change the color of your x-hair. But the update before this one made it so u can make whatever color you want. So I don't see why this update would of changed the way you update ur xhair.
